Macron: Trump must stop Gaza war if he wants to win Nobel Prize

Desk Report:

If US President Donald Trump really wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize, he must stop the war in Gaza. French President Emmanuel Macron made this comment on Tuesday. This information was reported by the Reuters news agency.

Macron is currently in New York to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly. In an interview with the French television channel BFM TV, Macron said that only Trump has the power to put pressure on Israel to stop the war.

Macron said, “There is only one person who can do something about this, and that is the president of the United States. Because we do not provide weapons that allow us to wage war in Gaza. We do not provide equipment that allows us to wage war. But the United States does.”

Earlier, in his speech to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump said that the United States rejects the initiative taken by Western allies to recognize Palestine as a state. Because, according to him, this recognition is actually a reward for Hamas fighters. Trump said, ‘We must immediately stop the war in Gaza. We must immediately start peace talks.’

Regarding Trump’s statement, Macron said, ‘I see a US president who is involved in this matter. Who said this morning (yesterday Tuesday) on the UN stage, “I want peace. I have resolved seven conflicts.” He wants the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Peace Prize will be possible only when this war can be stopped.’

Countries such as Cambodia, Israel and Pakistan have nominated Trump for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to broker a peace agreement and ceasefire. Trump has previously said that he deserves this honor, given in Norway. Four US presidents have received this award before him.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said, ‘President Trump has done more for peace than everyone present at the UN combined. This president alone has been able to do so much for global stability. Because he effectively made America strong again.
